Ms. Miklos believes that expat mothers are often times significantly underrepresented abroad. By default, International families create an opportunity to use international law in any family court proceedings as opposed to the local Italian Law. Often times, English speaking Italian attorneys purport to know the right and obligations of foreigners, but rather support the local legal system, thus significantly disenfranchising the foreign parent.
An International Litigator from New York City, Ms. Miklos primarily handles international Family Law matters in Italy, UK & USA.
Co-founder of International Family Law – Italy, she speaks both English and Italian while the office also speaks French. Her goal in creating IFLI, was to provide foreigners living in Italy, the best legal representation they can receive. Not knowing your rights before giving birth abroad can have a lifelong impact on mothers, keeping them locked within a foreign country until the child reaches the age of maturity.
Moreover, international legal separation, divorce and custody contentions often fail to adequately address the foreign elements as local counsel disregards international issues when representing the client in local court.
Ms. Miklos’ areas of specialty include Hague Convention (International Parental Kidnapping)
International Estate Planning (Wills & Trusts)
International Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Cohabitation)
International Parental Custody
