Nutrition during a child’s first 1000 days set him up for life. It can determine how tall he’ll grow, how intelligent he will be, how strong his bones are and lower his risk for future illnesses like diabetes and obesity. This important time starts in pregnancy, and continues until they are 2 years of age, way after first foods are introduced. This is why it is so important that mum eats well during pregnancy and breastfeeding. And that we offer our little ones a healthy, balanced diet once they start to eat.
